BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The UTEP Beach Volleyball team wrapped up the weekend with a 1-1 split. The Miners fell to CSU Bakersfield, 5-0, before earning the program's first match win against the Master's, 4-1, at the CSU Bakersfield Tournament at Barnes Beach.
Match 1: CSU Bakersfield 5, UTEP 0
The Roadrunners kicked things off against UTEP with a 21-10, 21-18 win for Shields and Bubelis in the No. 4 spot. Hladyniuk and Erteltova pushed the advantage to 2-0 with another straight set victory at the No. 2 pairs.
CSUB clinched the match with a win by Almeida and McCluskey on court three (21-12, 21-19).
The Roadrunners completed the sweep with wins at No. 5 and No. 1, respectively.

Match 2: UTEP 4, TMU 1
The Miners got on the board on court two with a straight-set win (21-14, 21-18) by Patterson and Paegle. TMU pulled even with a three-set win over Austin and Almaguer on court four.
UTEP went to clinch the match with consecutive wins at No. 5 and 1. Going into extra points on court one, Pustahija and Uskokovic picked up a win in the clinching decision.
In the final match of the day, Marenco and Acuna won in straight sets on court three.
