UTEP Men’s Golf Ranks T-9th after Round 1 at the C-USA Championship Monday

TEXARKANA, Ark. – The UTEP men's golf team wrapped up first-round play ranked tied ninth at the 2023 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship at Texarkana Country Club (par 72, 6969) in Texarkana, Ark., on Monday.

The Miners are at 26-over par 314 after the first 18 holes, tied with WKU, and four strokes behind Rice (310) and 14 behind Florida Atlantic (300). UAB (292) leads the way at 4-over par, while Middle Tennessee sits in second at 5-over par 293. LA Tech (296) and North Texas (296) are tied for third, while defending champion Charlotte (298) and UTSA (298) are tied for fifth. 
 
Max Schliesing and Kristjan Burkelca are the top Miners tied for 34th. Schliesing and Burkelca shot 6-over par 78. Jacob Presutti (79) Greg Holmes (79), and Marcus Khaw (79) are tied for 40th.
 
LA Tech's Lake Juban leads the player leaderboard at 3-under 69, while North Texas's Vicente Marzilio (71) and MT's Gavin Clements (71) are tied for second. 
 
The Miners will start round two with Holmes teeing off at 8:48 a.m. CT/7:48 MT. Khaw (8:56 a.m.), Presutti (9:04 a.m.), Burkelca (9:12 a.m.) and Schliesing (9:20 a.m.) will follow at hole no. 10. WKU will be paired with UTEP on Tuesday.
