FORT WORTH, Texas – Serena Patterson and Madison Hill were the lone pair that picked up a win on the day to open the TCU Invitational Friday afternoon. The UTEP beach volleyball team (4-15) fell to HCU, 4-1, and to (RV) Florida Gulf Coast, 5-0.
The Miners return to the sand Saturday morning for matches against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and #1 TCU.

Match 1: HCU 4, UTEP 1
UTEP got on the board first with a win on court No. 4, but the Huskies pulled even with a tight three-set match in the 5's.
HCU went on to clinch the match with back-to-back victories at No. 1 and 2, respectively. UTEP's No. 3 pairing picked up the first set win going into extra points but dropped a pair of sets to HCU in the final match.

Match 2: FGCU 5, UTEP 0
FGCU took the first point with a win on court four and snatched the second in the 5's. In the No. 3 spot, the Eagles secured the match win and went on to win the remaining two matches, clinching the sweep.
