Miners Secure 6-3 NMJC Transfer Mariama Sow

EL PASO, Texas – UTEP women's basketball has signed forward Mariama Sow from New Mexico Junior College, head coach Keitha Adams announced Monday. Mariama helped NMJC to a 52-11 record over two seasons.

Appeared in 32 games with five starts as a sophomore ... helped lead NMJC to an impressive 26-6 record and a trip to the NJCAA Sweet 16 ... averaged 5.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game ... posted 19 steals and 11 blocks … reached double figures in scoring on five occasions ... scored a career-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds at Bethany College JV (11/28/22) ... recorded one double-double with 10 points and a career-best 14 rebounds against Seward County (11/12/22) ... scored 11 points and grabbed six boards against Mineral Area (12/11/22) ... dropped 10 points in the win at Western Texas (01/16/23) ... poured in 12 points and added seven rebounds at Frank Phillips (01/28/23) ... as a freshman Sow averaged 7.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game ... scored in double figures 11 times, including five games in a row early in the season ... dropped a season-high 17 points to go with eight rebounds in a close win at Odessa College (12/01/21) ... posted four double-doubles, including two back-to-back versus Panola (16 points and 12 rebounds, 11/13/21) and at Ranger College (12 points and 13 rebounds, 11/15/21) ... scored 11 points and had 12 rebounds in two games, against Cochise College (12/18/21) and against Jones College (03/16/22) ... scored 13 points in a blowout win against Community Christian College (11/21/21).
