Miners Gear Up for Two Road Clashes

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP soccer program (1-4-1) hits the road for two matches this week. First, the Miners will travel to face Tulsa (0-6) on Thursday at 6 p.m. MT/ 7 p.m. CT before heading down to take on Texas A&M-Commerce (1-4-1) Sunday at 12 p.m. MT/ 1 p.m. CT.
 
GAME COVERAGE
Fans can follow the live stats for the match at Tulsa through the Tulsa Stat Broadcast. The contest at A&M-Commerce will be streamed on ESPN+ with  live stats available through TAMUC Stat Broadcast.
 
QUICK LOOK AT LAST WEEK
The Orange and Blue went 1-1 on the week, highlighted by a win against previously undefeated UIW. Mina Rodriguez opened her season scoring account with the lone goal of the match against the Cardinals, who had not conceded a goal until that point. It was the first career win for Head Coach Gibbs Keeton.
 
SPREADING THE WEALTH
Each of the Miners' four goals this campaign has been scored by a different player. Emerson Kidd and Taya Lopez both scored in the season opener against NAU. Ashlyn Neireiter tallied her first career goal at San Diego State, and Rodriguez put away the match winner against UIW. Lopez and Olivia Roskos have also recorded assists.
 
ON TARGET
Ashlyn Neireiter is leading the team in shots on goal (four), with Emerson Kidd and Vanessa Cabello following closely behind with three apiece.
 
SCOUTING TULSA
The Hurricane are 0-6 in the 2023 campaign. Kayla Fernandez and Jordan Frederick have scored the two goals for Tulsa, with Liz Campbell and Madison Williams providing the assists. Tatum Sanders, Raegan Beeding, and Kylie Koeijmans have all played two games in net for the Hurricane.
 
SERIES HISTORY WITH THE HURRICANE
The Miners are 8-8-2 against their former Conference USA rivals. The most recent meeting between the two came on Oct. 20, 2013, and saw UTEP win 1-0 at Tulsa.
 
SCOUTING A&M-COMMERCE
The Lions are 1-4-1 on the season. They beat Tulsa 2-0 (Aug. 24) and tied Oral Roberts 2-2 (Aug. 17). Hannah Bell is leading the charge with three goals. Hailey Griffin, Kaydence Ramirez, and Ashley Campuzano have tallied one goal each. Kristen Sueltz and Mya Mitchell have both posted assists for the Lions. Net-minding duties have been shared between Sophia Dean (six games played, four starts) and Gillian McKenzie (four games played, two starts).
 
SERIES HISTORY WITH THE LIONS
This will be the first time the Miners and the Lions faceoff.
