ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Pole vaulter Alla Parnov and 60-meter hurdler Jordani Woodley broke their own school records as the UTEP track and field team wrapped up its second meet of the season at the New Mexico Team Open in the Albuquerque Convention Center on Saturday afternoon.

Parnov used a personal-best and new school-standard 4.15-meter (13-7.25) leap in the women's pole vault earlier in the day, placing fourth overall. Parnov is ranked tied second on the Conference USA performance list with her new mark, tying with FIU's Nicole Janse Van Rensburg. Her previous best was a 4.13m mark in her UTEP debut at the Stan Scott Memorial on Jan. 13.

Woodley clocked in a personal-best, CUSA-best and new school-record 7.73 in the men's 60-meter hurdles final and claiming a victory. Woodley advanced to the finals after posting a 7.90 in the preliminaries. Woodley's previous best was a 7.75 done at the Stan Scott.

"We set two new school records again by the same two individuals as last time. In addition to new records, we had several conference leading marks, personal bests, and we made excellent progress as a team from our first outing two weeks ago," UTEP Director of Track and Field Mika Laaksonen said. "Next week is another bye week until we finish our regular season at Texas Tech in two weeks against the stiffest competition of the season yet. I expect a strong move forward again as a team."

Marissa Simpson also claimed a victory, clocking in a personal-best 8.11 in the women's 60-meter hurdles final. She is ranked first in CUSA, while new time ranks third on the school's top-10 list. She posted an 8.14 in the prelims to qualify for the finals earlier in the day. Simpson's previous best was an 8.12 at the 2023 Don Kirby.

Niesha Burgher and Rejoice Sule advanced to the women's 60-meter dash finals. Sule clocked in a personal-best 7.40 and Burgher posted a 7.41. Sule's time is ranked third in CUSA, while Burgher is tied fourth with Sam Houston's Rajer Gurode.

Joyce Kemboi clocked in a CUSA-best 4:52.92 in the women's mile event, as it was the freshman's first career mile race. Kemboi finished second overall. Teammate Ruth Jerubet clocked in a 5:01.84, ranking fifth in CUSA.

Aron Tanui clocked in a CUSA-best 1:50.68 in the men's 800-meter race, finishing third overall in the event.
