FINAL RESULTS

LUBBOCK, Texas – For a second consecutive day a program record was set as Niesha Burgher blazed out in the 200-meter dash as the UTEP track and field team concluded its final regular-season meet at Texas Tech's Jarvis Scott Open in the Lubbock Sports Performance Center on Saturday afternoon.

Burgher clocked in a personal-best and new school standard 22.90 and finished first in the women's 200-meter dash final. Her previous best and old school record was a 23.17 at last year's Don Kirby. Burgher came into the weekend ranked no. 1 in Conference USA with a 23.18.

"There was a lot of balance this weekend with two school records and 23 new personal bests," UTEP Director of Track & Field Mika Laaksonen said. "Not a bad way to finish our regular before heading to Conference Indoor Championships at Liberty two weeks from now."

Rejoice Sule clocked in a personal-best 23.37 in the women's 200-meter dash, placing first in the meet's initial women's 200 final. Her time ranks second in the CUSA behind teammate Burgher.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team composed of Joshua Hill, Karon Dean, Aron Tanui and Xavier Butler clocked in a season-best and CUSA-best 3:10.58.

Sandra Maiyo clocked in a personal-best 9:50.83 in the women's 3000-meter race, placing second while teammate Ruth Jerubet finished in third with a 9:58.59. Maiyo ranks seventh in the CUSA while Jerubet is 10th

UP NEXT
