UTEP T&F Opens Outdoor Season at the Arizona Spring Break Fiesta March 16

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP track and field outdoor season will commence at the first annual Arizona Spring Break Fiesta in Tucson at Roy P. Drachman Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The field events will start at 9 a.m. MST/10 MDT with the women's hammer and javelin, followed by the men's hammer and javelin at 11 a.m. MST/Noon MDT. The running events will shoot off at 1 p.m. MST/2 MDT with the men's 110-meter hurdles, followed by the women's 100-meter hurdles at 1:10 p.m. MST/2:10 MDT. The meet will conclude with the men's 4x400-meter relay at 4:17 p.m. MST/5:17 MDT and the women's 4x4 at 4:25 p.m. MST/5:25 MDT.

The Miners will compete against host Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, GCU, NM State, NAU, UNLV, Utah State and Washington State. DII, NAIA and NJCAA programs include WNMU, Park Gilbert, CAC, Mesa CC and Pima CC.

Competing for the women are Loubna Benhadja (400, 4x4), Chinique Brown (100m, 200m), Oghenekaro Brume (4x1), Niesha Burgher (400m, 4x1), Lizbeth Fierro (shot put, hammer throw) Asia Hodge (100m, 200m, 4x1), Brenda Jerop (3000m), Ruth Jerubet (3000m), Vallary Kiplagat (3000m), Salma Licon (3000m), Zani Meaders (100m, 200m, 4x4), Arianne Morais (shot put, javelin), Natalie J. COMING UP
Following its trip to Arizona, UTEP will return to action at a trio of meets on March 27-30. The Miners will compete at the Texas Relays (March 27-30) in Austin, the Bobcat Invitational (March 28-30) in San Marcos, Texas, and the Stanford Invitational (March 29-30) in Stanford, Calif.
