The UTEP soccer team (3-4-3, 0-1-1 CUSA) welcomes WKU (2-6-1, 0-1-1 CUSA) to University Field Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. MT.

UTEP fell to 3-4-3, 0-1-1 in CUSA after falling to Middle Tennessee 2-0 Thursday evening. The Miners outshot the Blue Raiders 24-5, and 7-4 in shots on goal, as well as earning six corner kicks to MTSU's one, but failed to find the back of the net. Mina Rodriguez paced the team with five shots on goal, followed by Ana Quintero with four. Hayden McMillan led the Miners with two shots on goal.
 
HEY ALEXA, PLAY SHOTS BY LMFAO
UTEP's 24 shots against Middle Tennessee mark a season high, besting the previous high of 21 shots, set against Kennesaw State.
 
FOOT ON THE GAS
The Miners have registered at least 10 shots in all but two matches this season, including tallying 20 or more in each of the last two contests. The team has outshot opponents 45-10 over those two games.
 
YOU SHALL NOT PASS!
Angelina Amparano has recorded three solo shutouts in 2024, making it five career shutouts with UTEP. She is tied for ninth in the all-time record book for goalkeeper solo shutouts (tied with Katie Gilmore, who played for the Miners from 2000-03).

Ana Quintero leads the Miners in multiple categories, including goals (four), points (eight), and shots (18). She also shares the lead in shots on goal (seven).
 
SHARPSHOOTER
Sheyliene Patolo shares the team lead in shots on goal (seven) and also tops the Miners in SOG% (.700, minimum three total shots).
 
LOOK AT ALLLLLL THOSE CORNERS
After being outnumbered 12-3 in corner kicks through the first two games, the Miners have outpaced opponents in every contest since. UTEP has a 47-14 advantage in corner kicks over that span.
 
IN THE RANKS
UTEP ranks second in CUSA and 65th nationally in goals-against average (.800). Individually Angelina Amparano sits 91st in goals-against average (.842) and 99th in shutouts (three).
 
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
UTEP's eight goals against is the fewest through the first 10 games of a season since 2016 when the Miners gave up just  four goals in 10 contests.
 
FIRING SQUAD
Four Miners have reached double-digit shot attempts this season, led by Ana Quintero with 18. Mina Rodriguez (16), Sheyliene Patolo (10) and Taya Lopez (10) round out the list.
 
SCOUTING REPORT: WKU
The Hilltoppers are 2-6-1 in 2024, including 0-1-1 in conference play. Kayla Meyer paces the Hilltoppers with five goals, followed by Rebecca Roth and Abby Wiedermann with two apiece. Meyer also tops the team in shots (23) and shots on goal (12). Georgia Liapis ranks second on the squad with 16 shots (11 on goal). Maddie Davis has started eight of nine games in goal for WKU, making 34 saves and allowing 18 goals against in 106 shots faced. Emma Tompkins madefive saves and allowed two goals over 16 shots faced in her lone start in net. Nationally, the Hilltoppers rank 66th in fouls per game (7.67) and 98th in shot accuracy (.485). Individually, Kayla Meyer is ranked in the top 100 in the country in three categories. She sits 57th in game-winning goals (two), 86th in goals per game (.56), and 91st in total goals (five).
 
SERIES HISTORY WITH THE HILLTOPPERS
UTEP is 3-3-1 all time against WKU. The last matchup between the two was during the 2023 season and saw the Miners win 1-0 at home on 10/7/23. The game marked Head Coach Gibbs Keeton's first CUSA victory with the Miners.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
Following Sunday's match, UTEP heads out on a three-game road trip. Up first, the Miners travel to league-leader Liberty on Oct. 3.
