EL PASO, Texas – Nationally-ranked No. 15 UTEP Rifle will travel to Colorado Springs for a top-15 showdown against No. 7 Air Force on Saturday, October 11, at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Competition is slated to begin at 8:45 a.m. MT as the Miners take on one of the premier programs in collegiate rifle. 

LAST MATCH RECAP

The Miners opened their season at home with a strong performance against No. 6 Ole Miss, posting an aggregate score of 4668 at the UTEP Rifle Range. UTEP fired 2306 in smallbore and 2362 in air rifle, while the Rebels registered a match-high 4735 (2352 SB, 2383 AR). 

Sophomore Carlee Valenta led the Orange and Blue with an 1173 aggregate, finishing fifth overall. Fellow sophomore Kameron Wells (1169) and freshman Kennedy Wells (1167) followed closely in sixth and seventh, respectively. Sophomore Julia Czernik notched a 1159 to finish ninth, while juniors Xan Keel (1154) and Paige Hildebrandt (1150) rounded out UTEP's lineup. 

Ole Miss' Audrey Gogniat topped the individual leaderboard with a 1192. 

NATIONAL STANDOUTS

• Carlee Valenta enters the week tied for 4th nationally in air rifle average (598) and ranks 37th in aggregate average (1173). 
• Kennedy Wells is tied for 50th in the country in smallbore average (579). 

SCOUTING NO. 7 AIR FORCE

• Air Force opens its 2025-26 campaign against the Miners, carrying significant momentum from a standout season.
• The Falcons finished 7th at the 2024 NCAA Championships, posting the third-highest national meet score in program history.
