UTEP Track & Field’s Benhadja, Simpson, Sule Advance to Quarterfinals at 2025 NCAA West First Round Thursday Night

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – UTEP track and field's Loubna Benhadja (400H), Marissa Simpson (100H) and Rejoice Sule (100, 200) qualified for the quarterfinals in their respective events on Thursday at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field West First Round at E.B. Cushing Stadium.

Simpson clocked in a 13.09 and placed fifth overall in first round action of the women's 100-meter hurdles. Oregon's Aaliyah McCormick finished first with a season-best 12.82. Simpson will compete in the 100H quarterfinals on Saturday at 6:15 p.m. CT/5:15 MT.

Sule clocked in at 11.30 to place 20^th overall in the women's 100-meter dash first round. USC's Dajaz Defrand finished first with a time of 11.00. Sule will run in the 100 quarterfinals on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. CT/5:35 MT.

Sule also advanced in the women's 200-meter dash, clocking in at 23.36 and placing 23^rd overall. Texas A&M's Jasmine Montgomery placed first overall with a 22.39. The 200 quarterfinals are Saturday at 7:50 p.m. CT/6:50 MT.

Benhadja turned in a time of 57.13, placing fifth overall in the women's 400-meter hurdles first round. Benhadja will compete in the 400H quarterfinals on Saturday at 7:25 p.m. CT/6:25 MT. Texas' Akala Garrett finished first with a 55.87.

Jakub Belik will compete in the men's high jump semifinal at 3:30 p.m. CT/2:30 MT.
