UTEP Football’s Tyrone D. McDuffie III Nominated to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

ATLANTA, Ga. – UTEP offensive lineman Tyrone D. McDuffie III was announced on Thursday to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List. There were a record-breaking 116 nominees who have had enormous impacts in their communities and across the nation.
 
McDuffie, a redshirt sophomore, will enter his third season with the program. He played in two games last season, seeing action at WKU and NM State. McDuffie will be looked upon to see more playing time this season. 
 
But off the field, the native of El Paso has given back to his community, while McDuffie also gets it done in the classroom. McDuffie has put in multiple hours, taking time to play with and mentor students at Moreno Elementary, while also putting in 70+ hours at the Visitors Chapel AME Church for the past three years, assisting with feeding people without homes. He's made stops with the Salvation Army, Polk Elementary, Parkland Elementary, El Paso Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House and Kelly Center for Hunger Relief. McDuffie spoke on a panel at Bel Air High School to encourage students to attend college. He also read to children with the Mesita Read Across the District. 
 
Academically, McDuffie posted a 3.79 GPA in political science while minoring in communication studies. He was named to the 2025 Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and was named a CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medalist. 
 
McDuffie is also a 2025-26 CUSA SAAC Representative, while the Parkland High School graduate was the 2025 UTEP Football Miner Man of the Year. 
 
This is McDuffie's second preseason honor after being listed as a nominee on the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® on July 15.
   
ABOUT THE ALLSTATE WUERFFEL TROPHY
The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, a member of the National College Football Awards Association, is college football's premier award for community service. The trophy is presented annually by the Wuerffel Foundation to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership and performance on and off the field. Named after Heisman Trophy winner and College Football Hall of Famer, Danny Wuerffel, the award honors his commitment to inspiring greater service and unity in the world. Established in 2005, the Wuerffel Trophy is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year. Wuerffel led the University of Florida to four SEC Championships and the 1996 National Championship. As a humanitarian, he continues to inspire leaders to positively impact their communities. Danny currently serves as President of the Wuerffel Foundation and Executive Director of Desire Street Ministries. An avid pickleball player, he was drafted as a professional within the National Pickleball League and hosts celebrity pro-am "PickleBowl" tournaments.
