UTEP Football to Host Open Practice at SAC II on March 28

EL PASO – The UTEP football team will head to the East Side of the 915 when the Miners host a Saturday afternoon practice session at the SISD Student Activity Complex II.

The practice – aka an opportunity – is open to fans with free admission. The Miners will battle it out from 2-4 p.m. at the SAC II located at 1300 Joe Battle Blvd. Lot B. Fans will get a chance to take photos and get autographs from players and staff post practice.

"It's going to be a great opportunity to get our program out to the east side to practice at the SAC II," third-year UTEP Head Coach Scotty Walden said. "We need, more than ever, a unified El Paso, and we want our city to unify around UTEP. This is a great opportunity to make that happen by bringing our program to the East Side to show that we don't just represent the West Side; we represent the entire 915. We take pride in that. I cannot wait to see everyone, and we are very grateful to Socorro ISD for allowing us to utilize their amazing facility."

The fans and media will see 32 new players, along with 59 returnees, take the field on Saturday afternoon. New UTEP quarterback EJ Colson headlined the transfers, while returnees safety Xavier Smith and Miner Back Kam Thomas make their way back to the gridiron for the Miners in 2026.

EAST SIDE NOTES
It will mark the third time the Miners head east after holding a practice back on March 23, 2018, at the SISD Student Activities Center (SAC), and on April 5, 2019, at Del Valle High School.
