UTEP Women’s Golf Lands Six Student-Athletes on 2025-26 WGCA All-American Scholar Team

FRISCO, Texas – UTEP women's golf's Atikan Cherdchoo, Amelia Fridlund, Taline Kyoumjian, Nichapas Thawinwan, Paige Wood and Blanca Yrizar were announced to the 2025-2026 WGCA All-American Scholar Team on Monday.

The selections are based on an overall cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and players have played in 50 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.

Cherdchoo played in 10 tournaments, recording a 75.1 stroke average in her first season with the Miners. The freshman shot a career-low 68 in the first round at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate, while her 214 and tied-for-sixth-place finish were career bests. Cherdchoo was the top Miner at The Lady Clerico. The native of Chon Buri, Thailand, posted a perfect 4.00 GPA while majoring in psychology.

Fridlund played in nine tournaments, recording a 75.8 stroke average. The freshman won the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate with a career-low 3-under par 210, including a career-low 69 in the third round. The native of Karlskoga, Sweden, posted a 3.77 GPA in criminal justice.

Kyoumjian recorded a 76.9 stroke average in six tournaments. She shot a career-low 4-over par 220 at the Cowgirl Classic, competing as an individual. The junior from Seyssins, France, posted a 3.56 GPA in criminal justice.

Thawinwan, who was named to the 2025-26 CUSA Women's Golf All-Academic second team and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, competed in eight of UTEP's nine tournaments. The native of Phuket, Thailand, posted a 75.2 stroke average. She was UTEP's top finisher at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate, competing as an individual and sharing runner-up honors with a career-best 54-hole total of 211 (-2). Her second-round 66 marked a career low and tied the second-lowest single-round score in program history. Her 211 total was the lowest 54-hole score by a Miner this season. The sophomore is a two-time CUSA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll member as well as a two-time CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal recipient.

Wood, who was recently hired as the weekend sportscaster at KVIA Channel 7, played one season at UTEP after transferring from Oklahoma City University. She saw action in five tournaments, recording a 78.1 stroke average. She finished tied for 22^nd at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate after shooting a season-low 73 in rounds one and two. Wood, a native of McKinney, Texas, posted a 3.83 GPA in Leadership Studies (MLS).

Yrizar led the Miners with a 74.3 stroke average during her freshman season. She played in 10 tournaments, placing as the top UTEP finisher in five tournaments, while placing in the top 10 two times. Yrizar shot a career-low 67 in the first round at the West Texas Classic, placing tied for eighth. She shot a career-best 216 at The Clash at Boulder Creek. Yrizar's best finish was tied for third at the Ozarks National Invitational, shooting 6-over par 222. The native of San Sebastian, Spain, posted a perfect 4.00 GPA in business.
