NEW ORLEANS, La. – UTEP track and field continued to collect academic achievements as the men's and women's teams were named All-Academic, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The men's team fashioned a 3.24 GPA, while the women's squad worked towards a 3.23 GPA.

"Being Miner Built means pursuing excellence in everything we do. Having both our men's and women's programs recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams is a testament to the discipline, commitment, and character of our student-athletes," UTEP head coach Francesca Green said. "Success in the classroom requires the same dedication and consistency that success on the track demands. I'm incredibly proud of our student-athletes, coaches, and support staff for embracing that standard as we continue building a culture where excellence is expected in every aspect of the student-athlete experience."

The recent honors are stacked with the track & field/cross country program's other academic accomplishments this season.

Most recently, six UTEP track and field student-athletes (Sebastian Avena, Alex Brown, Sarah Dovenbarger, Samahri Foster, Andres Gurrola, and Zacarias Velasquez) were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® team on June 23.

Gurrola and Velasquez were named to the 2026 Conference USA All-Academic team on June 12, while Velasquez earned a Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship on June 5.

In cross country, Vallary Kiplagat and Juan Leal were named CUSA All-Academic on Dec. 2, 2025, while Salma Lincon was honored as a 2025-26 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
