UTEP Men’s Golf Fires Tourney-Best 13-under in Final Round, Finishes Tied for Second at the 57th Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational Monday

FINAL ROUND RESULTS

USAFA, Colo. – UTEP rebounded in a big way, firing a tournament-best 13-under par 275 in Monday's final round to move up five spots and finish tied for second at the 57^th Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, hosted by Air Force at the Eisenhower Golf Club Blue Course (par 72 | 7,541 yards).

Alexandre Godin was spectacular in the final round, firing a field-best 6-under par 66, and moved up 41 spots on the leaderboard.

Colorado (280-278-276—834) maintained its lead throughout the three-day tournament to take the team title. UTEP (285-289-275—849), which started the day tied for seventh, shot up the leaderboard and finished tied with Denver (285-285-279—849) for second place. Utah State (288-285-285—858) was fourth, while Wyoming (285-285-289—859) placed fifth. UC Santa Barbara (286-289-288—863) and UC Davis (285-285-293—863) tied for sixth, and host Air Force (292-279-293—864) finished in eighth place. Northern Colorado (289-285-291—865) was ninth, and San Jose State (287-293-286—866) placed 10^th. SIU Edwardsville (305-294-297—896) was last (18^th overall).

The Miners' 275 was the top score in round three, followed by Colorado's 276.

UTEP tallied a 3.07 average (+4) on par 3 holes, and tied second in the field on par 5s (4.70 avg., -18). The Miners added four eagles, the second most behind UC Santa Barbara (five). The Orange and Blue recorded 51 birdies (t-sixth) and 167 pars (fifth). UTEP also registered the second-fewest bogeys (43) behind Colorado (27).

Luke Harwick (70-72-68—210) turned in his best effort as a Miner, shooting a 68 in the final round to dart up 10 spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for sixth. Harwick, UTEP's top finisher, recorded 11 birdies and an eagle.

Godin (73-76-66—215), who began Monday tied for 62^nd after a difficult second round, climbed to tie for 21^st with a 6-under par 66. Godin registered seven birdies, including five in a row at holes two through six. He also birdied at 12 and 18. Godin's only setback was a bogey at 15. Overall, Godin had 10 birdies.

Marc Keller and Julien Dulait also finished tied for 21^st.
Keller (73-72-70—215) moved up 13 spots after shooting 2-under par on Monday. Keller penciled in a pair of eagles at 9 and 16 (tied for second most). Overall, Keller had 10 birdies.

Dulait (69-72-74—215) had seven birdies overall and an eagle on 11 in round one. Dulait tied for fourth in the field with 38 pars.

Patrick Foley (75-73-71—219) improved his score every day, moving up 11 spots to place tied for 42^nd. Foley penciled in a team-high 13 birdies during the tournament.

Wyoming's Brody Leid (68-70-69—207) won the individual championship. Denver's Arthur Akpinar (71-68-69—208) was second. Colorado's Brandon Knight (73-64-72—209), UC Santa Barbara's Dylan Ma (68-69-72—209) and Colorado's Ty Holbrook (69-70-70—209) tied for third.
