PRIOR TO UTEP: Played two seasons of varsity football and saw action in 20 games … during senior campaign notched 99 tackles (43s/56a), eight tackles for loss, seven sacks and seven quarterback hurries … tallied 10 showings with eight or more stops … posted a career-high 12 tackles in 49-14 win over El Paso … as a junior recorded 50 stops (24s/26a), four sacks and one forced fumble … set a season-best 10 tackles in final game of the season versus El Paso and added two sacks and a tackle for loss.

PERSONAL: Full name is Elijah Vasquez Perales … son of Hector and Alma Joy Perales … has one brother … grandpa Guillermo Vasquez played football at UTEP … grandpa and mother, and relatives Belinda Vasquez and Arturo Perales are UTEP graduates … born in El Paso, Texas … kinesiology major.
