CAREER NOTES: Has 23 career touchdown passes, needing one to crack the program's all-time top-10 list ... has 26 career touchdowns responsible for ... was one of 45 national collegiate quarterbacks, and the first UTEP quarterback, to be invited to the 2017 Manning Passing Academy supervised by the Manning Family (Archie, Cooper, Peyton and Eli) … the camp was a four-day event that started on June 22, 2017 at Nicholls State University in which over 125 prep, college and professional coaches, counselors and staff members were involved.
2017 (JUNIOR): Made five starts in seven games played under center … threw for 637 yards on 63-of-130 passing and three scores … rushed for a pair of touchdowns … recorded season-high in completions (18) and passing yards (203), while throwing and rushing for scores against Rice … rushed for a touchdown at rival NM State … threw a season-high two touchdowns, including a career-high 83-yard toss against LA Tech … threw for 67 yards on nine completions at Army.
2016 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 11 contests, starting seven … team’s leading signal caller, tallying 1,375 yards on 130-of-201 passing with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions … 64.7 completion percentage ranked third in Conference USA, while it’s the program’s second-best single-season performance … 14 passing scores were most for a UTEP quarterback since 2010 … 141.14 passing efficiency rating was the the program’s fifth-best single-season performance, while it ranked sixth in C-USA … received first start of season at LA Tech, throwing for a season-high 215 yards on 20-of-28 passing and a touchdown … named one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week after tying career-high with a trio of touchdown passes during a 5OT victory at UTSA; threw for 211 yards (15-of-23) against the Roadrunners … tied career best with three more touchdown tosses on 16-of-21 passing (191 yards) during a win against Houston Baptist … threw for 171 yards on 12-of-17 passing with two scores, including a season-long 72-yard touchdown pass during a season-finale dominant victory against North Texas; added 43 yards rushing with a career-long dash of 42 yards versus the Mean Green … tallied a pair of touchdown throws at Florida Atlantic and two more at Rice.
2015 (FRESHMAN): Played in eight games, starting five … threw for 900 yards on 82-of-140 passing (58.6 percent), six touchdowns and seven interceptions … ran for 130 yards and a touchdown … came into relief at rival NM State, leading the Miners to a come-from-behind overtime victory … threw for 218 yards on 15-of-19 passing (78.9 percent), three passing scores including the game-winning touchdown toss, and an eight-yard rushing score that tied the contest with 42 seconds left against the Aggies … started first collegiate game against Incarnate Word, leading the Miners to victory with a team season-high 275 yards on 20-of-29 passing (69 percent) and a pair of scores, including a season-long pass of 57 yards; also led the team with 46 rushing yards … threw a touchdown against UTSA … first collegiate action came at Arkansas during the season opener, passing for 19 yards on a 3-for-3 day … threw for 26 yards on 4-of-5 passing during a season-ending victory at North Texas.

PRIOR TO UTEP: Three-year varsity starter at Andress High School ... named an All-District 1-4A first-team selection ... tabbed All-City by the El Paso Times ... connected on 160-of-267 passes for 2,615 yards and 21 TDs in 2012 ... also registered 385 yards on 70 carries and reached the end zone five times on the ground ... named to the 1-4A All-Academic team in 2012 while ranking third in his class ... was second-team All-District his junior campaign and honorable mention as a sophomore ... track district champion in the 400m in 2011, reaching the regional finals ... received the Presidential Award for Excellence and was a member of the National Honor Society ... had a 100.1 GPA and was ranked fourth in his class.
