2020-21 (SENIOR)
- Played both singles and doubles for the Miners.
- Occupied No. 1 singles throughout the entire season, finishing with a pair of wins.
- Enjoyed a stretch of winning two of three matches.
- Nearly perfect in a 6-0, 6-1 conquest of Lore Mewis (UTPB, 3/20/21).
- Blasted Gaini Ibrasheva, 6-0, 6-0 (UT Tyler, 4/9/21).
- Played doubles with both Eve Daniels and Lina Sachica.
- Went 3-2 at No. 2 doubles with Sachica.

2019-20 (SENIOR)
- Compiled five wins in singles during the year, with four coming during dual play.
- Fashioned a 1-1 mark on the year in C-USA singles matches.
- Held down the fort at No. 1 singles (4-7 record), with no other Miner spending more than two matches at the top.
- Rated third on the team in doubles wins (seven), including sharing for second during the 2020 spring season (four).
- Won three matches in a row at No. 1 singles in the middle part of dual play.
- Each of those victories were via straight sets.
- Started the stretch off with a 6-2, 7-6, win against Aurora Novati from Texas Wesleyan University (2/14).
- Kept things going by taking down Nadja Manjon from LA Tech (2/15) by a final score of 6-3 7-5.
- Capped off the surge with a 6-2, 6-3, vanquishing of Tamara Teufl from Youngstown State (2/21), helping UTEP rally from a 1-0 deficit to a 4-3 win.
- Picked up three straight wins in doubles while teaming up with Lina Sáchica … each of those victories came at No. 2 doubles.
2018-19 (JUNIOR)
- Recorded an 8-16 singles record, including 4-10 in duals.
- Played primarily no. 2 singles, where she finished 3-8.
- Tied for the team lead with 17 doubles triumphs (17-11 overall).
- Went 11-4 with Kirsten Prelle at No. 1 doubles (5-1 in duals).
- Started the season with wins in three of her first four singles matches, including a 6-1, 6-3 victory over UAB's Sonia Grzywocz.
- Her best dual-match singles win was a 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 decision over Houston's Ndindi Ndunda.
- Won 11 of her first 16 doubles matches to open the season.
- Joined forces with Prelle to score doubles victories over teams from UAB, NM State, San Diego State, Air Force, UNLV, UTSA and Colorado State.
PRIOR TO UTEP
- In her collegiate debut year, she led NM State with 16 singles victories, including a 12-9 record in dual play and 4-1 in Western Athletic Conference matches.
- Her efforts earned her First-Team All-WAC and WAC All-Tournament honors.
- Posted 10 wins at the No. 2 double spot for NM State and held a 2-0 mark at the No. 1 spot during dual play in the 2017 season.
PERSONAL: Full name is Vanessa Leticia Valdez Casas ... daughter of Jesus Valdez Morales and Leticia Casas Lopez ... has one brother and one sister ... hobbies include swimming, hanging out with friends, watching movies, reading and listening to music.
