TRANSFERRING
  • If a student-athlete is interested in transferring to another 4-year institution (i.e., NCAA or NAIA institution), the student-athlete must be placed in the NCAA Transfer Portal before contacting any other institution. If a student-athlete intends to transfer to a 2-year institution (i.e., junior college), it is not required that the student-athlete be placed in the NCAA Transfer Portal. If a student who has never been a student-athlete at UTEP is interested in transferring to another 4-year institution to become a student-athlete, it is not required for him/her to be placed in the NCAA Transfer Portal.
  • To be placed in the Transfer Portal, the student-athlete must complete the "Notification of Intent to Transfer" form and NCAA transfer education module. Student-athletes should contact the UTEP Athletic Compliance Office for assistance.
  • Upon receipt of a completed "Notification of Intent to Transfer" form and NCAA transfer education module, the UTEP Athletic Compliance Office will enter the student-athlete's name into the NCAA Transfer Portal within two (2) business days, pending the applicable Transfer Window for that student-athlete’s sport is “open,” or the student-athlete qualifies for an exception to the Transfer Windows and may have their name entered into the NCAA Transfer Portal prior to the Transfer Window “opening.” If the applicable Transfer Window is not yet open, the student-athlete’s name will be placed into the NCAA Transfer Portal upon the applicable Transfer Window opening.
  • Further information from the NCAA can be found here.

Travel Manifests (PDF)

  • At least 24 hours prior to a team's departure for a road trip, the coaching staff must submit to the Compliance Office a completed Travel Manifest. The Compliance Office will ensure that all student-athletes traveling are eligible to compete, that departure and return times adhere to NCAA and conference regulations, and that travel and squad size limitations are met.
