Traimain Johnson is in his first year as Assistant Director of Speed, Strength & Conditioning. He will be responsible for the program design and implementation of Volleyball, Track & Field and Cross Country, as well as assisting with Football.
Prior to his arrival at UTEP, Coach Johnson spent time at Michigan State University where he was responsible for coordinating and designing the strength programs for Women’s Soccer and Field Hockey. Before MSU Johnson spent a year at the University of Iowa working with numerous Olympic sports teams with the primary programming responsibility of Cross County. Coach Johnson also did a summer internship with Arizona State University’s Olympic sports programs.
Johnson is a native of Coolidge, Ariz. He graduated from Upper Iowa University with a degree in sports science with an emphasis in fitness and wellness. While at UIU Johnson also played football. After graduation he spent three years as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Mid-Prairie High School. He is currently certified through USA Weightlifting as a Sports Performance Coach.
Coach Johnson and his wife Amy were married on May 17, 2014. Their first child, Tevin, was born on May 12, 2015, and they are expecting their second child in December.
