Student Tailgating

New for the 2023 UTEP football season, a tailgating space is available strictly for UTEP students! 

WHERE IS THE STUDENT TAILGATING SPACE LOCATED?
It is situated between the Sun Bowl and Kidd Field (click here for map). 

HOW DO I CLAIM MY SPOT?
Please fill out the form located here.  Student organizations must coordinate with UTEP Athletics Department to obtain their tailgate spot no later than 48 hours before the day of the game.  Parking permit reservations and access to the student tailgate space are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

WHAT WILL I NEED TO GET INTO THE SPACE?
Students must have a valid UTEP student ID and a game ticket to get access into the student tailgate area.

HOW DO I GET MY FREE GAME TICKET?
Students can claim one free game ticket by visiting UTEPMiners.com/StudentTickets.

ARE STUDENT GUESTS PERMITTED IN THE TAILGATING SPACE?
Yes, but they must have a student guest ticket.

I HAVE A CAR.  WHERE CAN I PARK IF I PLAN TO TAILGATE IN THIS SPACE?
A limited number of spaces are available in the RA2 lot next to Kidd Field.  Please fill out the form located here to reserve an RA2 parking pass.  RA2 parking passes will be emailed at least two days before the game to the first 50 reservations.  Parking permit reservations and access to the student tailgate space are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

CAN I BRING A CAR INTO THE STUDENT TAILGATING SPACE?
Cars are not permitted in the space.

WHAT TIME DOES THE STUDENT TAILGATING SPACE OPEN?
The student tailgate area will be open for tailgating starting at 3 pm.

WHAT IF I WANT TO SET UP MY TAILGATE IN ADVANCE?
Tailgate spots can be set up the day of the game from 1-3 pm.  Any students wishing to set up their tailgate during this time must fill out the reservation form.  UTEP Athletics is not responsible for equipment set up before official tailgating activities begin.

WHEN DO I NEED TO LEAVE THE TAILGATING SPACE?
The area will shut down at 6:30 pm, so students can get to their seats in the stadium in time for the football game kickoff at 7 pm.

ARE THERE ANY RULES ABOUT PLAYING MUSIC AT MY TAILGATE?
Amplified music must be confined to individual tailgate areas and speakers must be directed into the individual tailgate area.

CAN I BRING FOOD AND DRINK INTO THE STUDENT TAILGATE SPACE?
Glass containers are not allowed. Food and beverages shall be for personal consumption only. Sales are prohibited.

CAN I BRING A GRILL?
No, for safety reasons, grills are not permitted in the student tailgate space.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER RULES AND/OR RESTRICTIONS THAT I NEED TO BE AWARE OF?
Hooking into, connecting to, or similar use of University utilities and/or television or communication cable services is prohibited.

Individuals are responsible for properly securing overhead objects (flags, balloons, etc.).

It is the responsibility of each tailgate party to secure tailgating items prior to entering the stadium.

Use of portable generators is limited to quiet units.

All trash from tailgates must be disposed of properly in designated containers.

NOTE: Tailgating policies and procedures for non-Saturday games (Sept. 29 and Oct. 18) will be adjusted. These changes will be communicated to students two weeks prior to each game.
