PRIOR TO UTEP: First Team All-District honoree as a senior at Hanks HS in El Paso ... chosen the team's most valuable offensive lineman and selected to play in the city All-Star Game ... played defensive end, right guard and left guard during a three-year varsity career for coach Jeff Cleveland ... honorable mention Academic All-State pick ... also a member of Hanks' basketball and track teams.
