James Bain was named Graduate Assistant-Offense & Special Teams at UTEP in July of 2021.
Bain played offensive tackle at Northern Arizona as a grad transfer in 2018, and was a graduate assistant with the Lumberjacks from 2019-20. He has reunited with coach Aaron Price at UTEP. Price was a member of the Northern Arizona staff from 2019-20.
While at graduate assistant at NAU, Bain worked with the special teams, tight end and running back units.
Bain played his prep football at Camarillo (Calif.) High School, where he was named the Pacific View Lineman of the Year while garnering All-Ventura County first team honors. He was also a first team All-CIF and first team All-State offensive lineman. Bain played baseball in high school as well.
He started his college playing career at Humboldt State, helping the team win the GNAC Championship with a 10-2 record in 2015. He was team captain as a junior and made close to 30 starts at offensive tackle.
Bain earned his B.A. in Criminology and Justice Studies from Humboldt State in 2018, and added his Masters in Educational Leadership from NAU in 2019.Â
