Tramaine Thompson will serve his second season as quality control coach-offense for the 2023 season. Thompson joined the UTEP football staff as graduate assistant-offense in August of 2021.
Most recently he was the wide receivers coach at Jenks High School, a 16-time state championship 6A squad in Oklahoma, from 2018-21. During his first year, all three of his starting wide receivers posted career-highs in receptions, yards, and touchdown. He also served as the passing game coordinator at both the varsity and junior varsity level, while assisting with the kickoff return and punt return units.
Thompson has previous experience working with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons as a Free Agent Wide Receiver Recruit and Return Specialist, and the Omaha Mammoths (charter member of the Fall Experimental Football League) as a Wide Receiver and Return Specialist in 2014.
He was a four-year starter during his collegiate career at Kansas State (2009-14), serving as a wide receiver and return specialist. During that time he was a two-time Wildcat Special Teams Player of the Year, and also earned Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He was honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2013 for excelling on special teams.
Thompson graduated from Kansas State in 2015 with a degree in Social Sciences.
