Biography

2020 (REDSHIRT JUNIOR)

  • Appeared in one game for the Miners in UTEP’s road win over ULM.
  • Did not record any stats.


2019 (REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE)

  • Part-time starter at nose tackle who was credited with 15 tackles in 12 games.
  • Also picked up two tackles for losses, a sack, a quarterback hurry, forced fumble and blocked kick.
  • Produced a critical sack of Houston Baptist QB Bailey Zappe in the fourth quarter of the season opener, resulting in a forced fumble that clinched the Miners’ 36-34 triumph.
  • Had a big night against Nevada with seven tackles and a blocked PAT.
  • Posted three stops versus UTSA.


2018 (SOPHOMORE)

  • Missed the 2018 season due to injury, earned a medical redshirt.


2017 (FRESHMAN)

  • Played in all 12 games and made four starts as a true freshman.
  • Saw action as defensive end and snapper.
  • Notched 14 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a quarterback hurry.
  • Recorded a career-high five stops against Arizona.
  • Posted three tackles versus No. 7 Oklahoma and WKU.
  • Added a sack against the Hilltoppers.
  • Registered a quarterback hurry versus UTSA.
  • Tallied a stop on three different occasions (vs. Rice, NM State and Army).

HIGH SCHOOL
  • Played on the varsity squad for three seasons.
  • During senior campaign, recorded 69 tackles (44 solo), 10.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and three pass breakups.
  • Tallied 7.0 tackles for loss during a victory over Sam Rayburn.
  • Named team captain during junior and senior seasons.
  • Played at the tight end and fullback positions on goal line situations during junior and senior campaigns.
  • As a junior, tallied 64 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 10.0 sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup.
  • During sophomore season, played linebacker, offensive line and running back.
  • Earned back-to-back District 22-6A first team honors as a linebacker in 2014 and 2015.
  • First Dobie High School football player to earn a Division I scholarship in 10 years.
  • Efforts helped the Longhorns to a 5-3 district mark.
  • Dobie fell in the first round to North Shore, the eventual 2015 Football Conference 6A-DI Texas state champions.
