Justin Garrett joined the UTEP football staff in August of 2022, and currently serves as scouting coordinator.
Garrett is no stranger to the program and Sun City as he played three seasons at UTEP from 2019 thru 2021. Garrett played in 37 games, starting in 24 at wide receiver. He started in all eight games in 2020 and all 13 during his final season in 2021. Garrett tallied 1,641 yards on 128 receptions (12.8 avg.) and 10 touchdowns during his three-year career. Garrett recorded 50 receptions for 685 yards and career-high four touchdowns as his efforts helped the Miners play at the 2021 New Mexico Bowl, while the team finished 7-6. It was the first time since the 2014 campaign the Miners had reached a bowl game and finished with a winning overall record.
Garrett earned a Conference USA Honorable Mention following the 2019 (punt returner) and 2020 season (both WR and PR).
Prior to transferring to UTEP, Garrett played at Cerritos College during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He played in 10 games in 2017, leading the Falcons in receptions (38), receiving yards (592) and receiving scores (five).
Garrett attended Gahr High School (Cerritos, Calif.), playing three years of varsity football. During his three-year career, Garrett rushed for 473 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 43 receptions for 495 yards and seven scores. Garrett also threw a pair of TDs during his senior season.
Garrett received his degree in multidisciplinary studies at The University of Texas at El Paso in December 2020, and will earn a master's degree in leadership studies in May 2023.
Garrett is married to Jasmine Bobadilla.
