Jerry Brown will serve as the director of scouting and game prep in his first season on the UTEP basketball coaching staff. 

During the 2018-19 campaign, Brown will be responsible for creating detailed scouting reports on UTEP’s opponents, while also compiling and analyzing self-scouting reports on UTEP following each game. Brown will also collect in-game statistical data, analyze in real-time, and share key metrics and trends with the coaching staff for in-game application.
 
Brown played for UTEP head coach Rodney Terry at Fresno State for two seasons (2011-12, 2012-13) and was team captain during both campaigns. Brown graduated from Fresno State in 2013 with a communications degree, while earning a master’s degree at Santa Clara in 2015. Brown was named to the 2012-13 Preseason All-Mountain West fourth team by College Sports Madness and was named 2011-12 All-WAC fourth team by CSM after averaging 8.8 points per game and 5.5 rebounds.
 
Most recently, Brown worked for the NBA’s Detroit Pistons as the team’s video coordinator during the 2017-18 season. Brown worked with Blake Griffin, Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond, while he also assisted with UTEP legend Tim Hardaway on scouting reports and player development while with the Pistons.

A native of Richmond, Calif., Brown also served as the operations manager for Team Esface Basketball Academy (Redwood City, Calif.) in 2017. Brown also played professional basketball overseas for the Iserlohn Kangaroos in Germany (2015-16) and BCGO in Gries, France (2014-15).
