Marco Chipres will enter the 2025-26 season in his second year as a graduate assistant for the UTEP men's basketball team.
Chipres ventured to the Sun City from Cal State Bakersfield where he worked for head coach Rod Barnes, who was the 2001 Naismith Coach of the Year. He served as a manager from 2017-22 before taking moving into a volunteer video coordinator/coach role from 2022-24.
He was responsible for film, including a break down analysis of the opposition which was used by the coaching staff to help prepare scouting reports. Chipres also assisted with day-to-day operations of the program, such as gear and equipment, travel and academics. He also helped during practice, doing a variety of tasks.
Chipres is a native of Union City, Calif., which is located in Northern California. He graduated from Cal State Bakersfield in the fall of 2021 with degrees in kinesiology and public administration.
