Nick Becerra will begin his first season as a graduate assistant under UTEP Head Coach Rodney Terry during the 2020-21 season.
Becerra played two years of collegiate basketball at Moorpark Community College in Moorpark, Calif., during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. He eared back-to-back scholar athlete awards. Becerra transferred to the University of San Diego where he worked as a manager for the basketball program. He earned a degree in Business Administration in 2020.
The native of Simi Valley, Calif., played his high school ball at Bishop Alemany High School where Becerra also coached the freshman basketball team during his senior year.
Becerra jumped into coaching at the age of 14 at the Boys & Girls Club in Simi Valley. He filled in for one of the teams which didn’t have a coach, and ever since then has had a passion for the profession.
