Nick Matt will begin his first year as a graduate assistant coach during the 2019-20 campaign under UTEP Head Coach Rodney Terry.
 
Matt graduated from Iowa State University in 2019 with a degree in journalism and mass communication, while serving as a manager for five seasons (2015-2019) with the men’s basketball program. The Cyclones won three Big 12 Tournament Championships (2015, 2017, 2019), went to four NCAA Tournaments (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019), while advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2016. 
 
Matt served on Fred Hoiberg’s staff during the 2014-15 season, while serving under current Iowa State head coach Steve Prohm. While at ISU, Matt worked with multiple current NBA players – Talen Horton-Tucker (Lakers), Marial Shayok (76ers), Georges Niang (Jazz), Abdel Nader (Thunder), Deonte Burton ( Thunder), Matt Thomas (Raptors) and Monte Morris (Nuggets). 
 
Prior to enrolling at Iowa State, the native of South Bend, Ind., played his high school basketball at Trinity School at Greenlawn.
