2023-24 (FRESHMAN)
  • Turned in one of the more memorable seasons by a Miner freshman in recent years by garnering multiple honors
  • Named the CUSA Freshman of the Year, UTEP’s first honoree since Vince Hunter in 2014, and fourth overall dating to the WAC
  • Also landed on the CUSA All-Freshman team
  • Earned a program-record six CUSA Freshman of the Week accolades, besting Vince Hunter’s mark of five in 2013-14
  • Joined teammate Elijah Jones as the lone players in school history to secure three straight CUSA Freshman of the Week honors
  • Rated third on the squad in assists per game (1.8 apg-22nd CUSA) and fifth in steals (1.3-ninth CUSA)
  • Helped the Miners lead the nation in both steals per game (11.4) and turnovers forced per contest (18.7)
  • Scoring came on strong down the stretch and finishing sixth on the squad (second among reserves) at 5.4 ppg
  • Connected on 41.5 percent (60-145) from the floor
  • In CUSA only contests he compiled 6.4 ppg (fifth on team), aided by going 33-43 at the charity stripe
  • Five of his six double-digit scoring efforts came against CUSA opponents, including a career-best tying 12 points to help fuel a comeback vs. Liberty (3/14/24) in the CUSA Quarterfinals
  • Was a steadying influence who helped close out the game at Jax State (2/29/24)
  • Netted 11 points in the tilt, sparking a five-game win streak for UTEP that culminated with an appearance in the CUSA Championships title game for the first time since 2011
  • Came alive with a then career-high 12 points while also pulling down a career-matching five rebounds in a 25-point romp for NM State (2/10/24)
  • It was the Miners’ largest margin of victory vs. the Aggies since 2004
  • Started his career with a bang by producing 11 points to go along with four assists, three steals and two blocks in the season opener against McMurry (11/6/23)
  • Registered a career-best four steals against both FIU (1/13/24) and at Sam Houston (1/27/24)
  • Scored 10 points, aided by career bests for both free throws made (six) and attempted (seven), in a win vs. Jax State (2/1/24)
  • Had 12 different games with at least two steals
  • One of three Miners (min 60 assists) to have more assists than turnovers
PRIOR TO UTEP
  • Rated as the 24th-best player in the state of Texas by Texas Basketball Review and as a three-star recruit according to 247 Sports
  • Garnered TABC 5A All-State honors after leading Mansfield Summit to its first appearance in the semifinals of the state tournament
  • Put up solid all-around numbers by accounting for 13.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game during the regular season as a senior
  • District 8-5A Defensive Player of the Year for Mansfield Summit in 2021-22
  • Also was named to the TABC 5A Region 1 All-Region team
  • Averaged 11.9 points and 5.9 rebounds to help the squad forge a mark of 30-6, including 13-1 within the district
  • MSHS advanced to the Regional Semifinals
  • Played well in big moments, evidenced by scoring 19 points in a 75-67 win over rival Mansfield Timberview on Feb. 2, 2022
  • Competed at The Circuit's Hidden Gems Camp in Las Vegas, Nev., in summer of 2022
  • Was nominated for the Southeast Tarrant Sports Awards boys basketball player of the year
  • His mom (Kiana Taylor) was a standout on the women's basketball team at UTEP (1993-96, 97-98), finishing her career as the then school record holder for double-doubles (20) and the then second-leading scorer (1,134) and rebounder (676) in program history
  • His father, David, was an all-WAC performer for UTEP and played with the football team from 1994-96
