Charles Corner

Charles Corner will return for a second season as a graduate assistant under UTEP Head Coach Scott Lieberwirth in 2019-20. Corner, one of the greatest UTEP golfers of all-time, graduated with a 3.60 GPA in finance in May 2018. Corner will complete his MBA in business and financial analysis.
 
Corner assisted Lieberwirth during the 2018-19 campaign as the Miners won the Pepsi-Cola Classic, firing a 9-under par (291-282-282—855) at the Red Hawk Golf Course.
 
Corner was also instrumental in assisting with Aaron Terrazas and Oskar Ambrosius. Terrazas won his first collegiate championship after tying for first place at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. Terrazas followed with his first outright tournament win at the Pepsi-Cola Classic. He ran away from the field, firing a 15-under par. Ambrosius also chalked up his first collegiate triumph, claiming the title at the Bearkat Invitational at 7-under par. 

Corner was a four-year letter winner, while being voted the 2018 MVP for the UTEP men’s golf team after captaining the Miners during his senior campaign. The native of Cayuga, Ontario, Canada, competed in 14 tournaments during the 2017-18 season and was named to the All-Conference USA second team.
 
The highlight for Corner during his final season with the Miners was advancing to the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla., after firing a nine-under (69-69-69—207) to place tied for third (out of 75) at the NCAA Regionals in Stockton, Calif. Corner was the first UTEP golfer since 2004 to secure a spot in the national championships.  
 
Overall in his career, Corner competed in 40 tournaments, while placing of UTEP’s top finisher in 10 tournaments with 10 top-10 finishes.
