Biography

PRIOR TO UTEP
  • Competed with the Eastern New Mexico cross country team in 2023 before transferring to UTEP.
  • Last time competed in track and field was at Burges High School.
  • Clocked in a season-best 2:01.02 with a second-place showing in the 800-meter run at the 2023 Burges Invitational. 
  • Posted a season-best time of 4:34.70 in the 1600 at the 2023 Willie Williams Classic. 
  • Turned in a season-best 10:02.76 in the 3200 at the Willie Williams. 

PERSONAL: Matthew Guerra is the son of Jaime and Graciela Guerra ... has one brother and two sisters ... born in El Paso ... received Spirit of Mustang Award Outstanding Citizen in 2023 ... biomedical science major.
