Biography
PRIOR TO UTEP
- Took the 2025 District 1-6A title in the long jump (17-5, PR) and triple jump (36-8) while competing at Socorro High School.
- Won the 6A Area 01-02 title in the triple jump (37-3.5).
- Competed in summer track with the El Paso Wings.
- Overall, won seven triple jump events in 2025
- Took first in the triple jump at the Coronado Invitational with a PR 37-5.5.
- Won five long jump events during the 2025 campaign.
- Claimed the high jump title at the Bowie Invitational with a leap of 4-10.
- Also competed in the 300m hurdles, claiming a trio of victories.
- Saw action in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays – part of the first-place 4x4 squad, clocking in a 4:17.72 at the Bowie Invite.
PERSONAL: Samirah Avila is the daughter of Ernesto Avila and Laura Lara... has two brothers and one sister ... born in El Paso ... also competed in swimming at Socorro High School.
