2025 OUTDOOR (FRESHMAN)
- Placed fifth with the 4x400-meter relay team with a time of 3:10.97 at the CUSA OTF Championships.
- Clocked in a personal-best time of 47.40 in the 400-meter dash at the Sun City Classic.
- Finished first in the 400 with a time of 48.38 at the Beach Invite.
- Placed second in the 400 with a 48.00 at the Don Kirby Tailwind Twilight.
- Was fifth in the 4x400 (3:15.38) at the Sun City Classic.
2025 INDOOR (FRESHMAN)
- Named All-CUSA first team in the DMR.
- Took gold in the DMR with a time of 10:04.06 at the CUSA ITF Championships.
- Opened UTEP career at the Corky Classic, competing in the 400.
- Competed in the 400 at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational and at the CUSA Championships.
PRIOR TO UTEP
- A 2024 6A District 30 champion in the 400-meter dash after clocking in a personal-best 49.17 in the finals.
- Ran a 51.43 in the prelims to advance to the finals.
- Won the 400 at the 2024 Rio Grande City Rey Ramirez 13th Annual Relays with a 49.73.
- Claimed first with a 49.95 in the 400 at the 2024 City Track Meet.
- Produced a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a 23.06 at the 2024 City Track Meet.
- Clocked in a personal-best 11.03 and placed second in the 100-meter dash at the 2023 Rio Grande City Rey Ramirez Relays.
- Posted a PR time of 21.98 in the 200-meter dash and claimed a championship at the 2023 District 30 6-A Track & Field meet.
- Also competed in the long jump, high jump and triple jump.
PERSONAL: Sebastian Avena is the son of Jorge Antonio Avena and Elena Gonzalez ... has one brother and one sister ... born in El Paso ... also competed in varsity swimming at Lyndon B. Johnson High School.
