Barbara Cibele Nascimento Conceicao enters her first season as a graduate assistant coach for the UTEP volleyball team in 2017. Conceicao will assume multiple administrative responsibilities including team travel arrangements and video exchanges. Â
 A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Conceicao has played both collegiately and professionally and brings more than three years of coaching experience at the college level and club teams as well as camps and clinics. Â
As a dual sport athlete for Iowa Western CC in volleyball and track (high jump), Conceicao received multiple awards including NJCAA Division I Women’s first team All-American and American Volleyball Coaches Association’s. Her efforts for IWCC earned her a volleyball scholarship to Texas Tech, where she competed from 2009-2010.  Â
Conceicao moved on to become an assistant volleyball coach at Western Texas College from 2012-2013, where she designed strength programs for volleyball athletes and assisted the head coach with all aspects of the volleyball program.
Most recently, she served as the graduate assistant for both the indoor and beach volleyball programs at Jacksonville State University. At JSU, she worked with the front row hitters and blockers to improve form and technique, she also assisted with team planning and travel arrangements.
She graduated from Texas Tech in 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and received her Master’s in Sports Management at Jacksonville State University in April of 2017.Â
