CAREER NOTES:Graduated from UTEP with a degree in Media Advertising in December of 2010 ... played for Bring It Promotions/USA Development Team in 2009 where she helped lead the team to the 2009 Global Challenge gold medal in Pula, Croatia.
2010 (JUNIOR): Played in 56 sets for UTEP ... recorded 70 kills (1.25 per set) and 73 digs (1.30 per set) ... posted a season-best nine kills against NC Central (8/27) and SMU (10/31) ... picked up a season-high 11 digs at UTSA (9/10) ... served 10 aces - all in Conference USA play to rank 13th in the league ... chipped in three assists and 11 rejections for the Miners.
2009 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 23 matches ... posted a season-high five kills against Coppin State (Sept. 12) ... recorded 10 service aces and 12 digs for the season ... named a Conference USA Academic Medalist and to the Commissioner[apos]s Honor Roll.
2008 (FRESHMAN): Started 31 of 32 matches played ... recorded four matches with double-digit digs ... posted a season-high 15 digs against Tulsa ... 12 vs. SMU ... 11 vs. Northern Colorado ... 11 vs. North Dakota State ... tallied a season-high five serving aces against Providence College.
2007: Redshirted ... Conference USA Commissioner[apos]s Academic Medalist and Commissioner[apos]s Honor Roll recipient.
HIGH SCHOOL: Named to the 2006 Washington Coaches Association All-State team ... earned first team All-Narrows honors and was named team captain, Most Valuable Player and scholar athlete ... helped lead Bellarmine to back-to-back Narrows league titles ... earned All-Narrows league honorable mention, while leading the Lions to the West Central district title and a sixth-place showing at state in 2005 ... also a four-year letterwinner in track and field where she earned Narrows/Bay League top-10 finishes in the 800-meter, and the triple jump in 2006 ... as a sophomore, she helped boost the Lions to the Washington state track and field title and a third-place finish during the 2006 campaign, while becoming an All-State selection ... boasting a 3.95 GPA, Joyce is also a National Honor Society member and the yearbook editor.
PERSONAL: Marie-Therese Joyce is the daughter of Stephen and the late Paula Joyce ... she has two brothers (Tommy, 19; Joe, 16) and one sister (Katherine, 16) ... born in Tacoma, Wash. on June 26, 1989 ... goes by 'M.T.' ... brother Tommy plays basketball for Gonzaga.
