UTEP Football Head Coach Scotty Walden announced Chris Annan as the Miners’ director of player wellness on Dec. 29, 2023.
 
Annan worked under Walden since the 2020 season, while he had started at his alma mater of Austin Peay as a football student manager in 2018. At UTEP, Annan will have a hand in facilitating housing for the players, assisting with on-boarding of new players to the program, and will aid with general needs the players have on a day-to-day basis.

While at Austin Peay, Annan oversaw the equipment room and student managers. He also assisted in interviewing new student candidates. Annan started as a football student manager in May 2018 thru August 2020 before Walden hired him as a football equipment graduate assistant for the 2021 season. Annan was then promoted to director of football equipment in August 2022. 
 
Annan was part of a program that went 9-3 overall and 6-0 in United Athletic Conference action in 2023. The Governors captured a UAC Championship and FCS playoff berth. Austin Peay produced a school-record 17 All-UAC performers. 
 
Annan received his Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from Austin Peay State University in May 2020.
