Entering his 44th season in 2024-25 as the UTEP Football and Men’s Basketball radio play-by-play “Voice of the Miners,” Jon has called more than 500 UTEP football and over 1,300 Miner men’s basketball games. Several of those seasons included combined radio-TV simulcasts.

He also hosts the weekly Scotty Walden and Joe Golding/Keitha Adams radio coaches shows on 600 ESPN El Paso during the UTEP football and basketball seasons.

Teicher was inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001 and was honored by the National Football Foundation in New York City in December of 2017 as the recipient of the Chris Schenkel Award, for a long and distinguished career broadcasting college football.

A Detroit, Mich. native and a Political Science graduate of UCLA, Jon first arrived in El Paso to call play-by-play for the minor league baseball Diablos from 1980-84 and again from 1988-92. In between, he also broadcast professional baseball in Portland, Ore. and in Wichita, Kan.

He additionally spent a season as the voice of the New Mexico State Aggies, five years as the host of the popular local afternoon radio talk show “Sportstalk” on KROD, and three years as a weekend sports anchor for KDBC-TV.

Jon and his wife, Pam, are parents of son, Ethan and daughter, Devin.
