Karina Torres joined the UTEP Athletics Business Office in September 2022 as an Accounting Specialist II and was promoted to Accountant II in April 2024.

In her role, Torres oversees a variety of accounting and financial operations that support the Athletics Department, including financial reporting, account reconciliation, expense management, budget monitoring, and compliance with university policies and procedures. She also coordinates financial and travel-related processes to help ensure coaches and athletic teams have a seamless experience during recruiting trips and team travel.

Torres earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at El Paso in 2017. She applies her strong analytical skills and attention to detail to help streamline financial processes and ensure efficient business operations within UTEP Athletics.

Committed to continuous learning and professional growth, Torres recently completed the UTEP AWARE Program, a professional development initiative that provides faculty and staff with a deeper understanding of the University's mission, strategic priorities, and institutional operations. Through the program, participants engage with university leadership, faculty, staff, and students to gain valuable insight into UTEP's academic and organizational landscape while strengthening their ability to contribute to the University's continued growth and success.

Outside of work, Torres enjoys attending professional networking events, exploring opportunities for continuous learning, and staying engaged in personal and professional development.
