UTEP welcomed Paolo Gorme to its sports medicine staff in July, 2026.  He serves as the athletic trainer for the softball program after spending the previous two and a half years at Abilene Christian University as the women's soccer and softball athletic trainer.

Originally from Dumaguete City, Philippines, Gorme spent his spring 2024 semester as a graduate student intern with the ACU sports medicine team prior to his official appointment as a full-time Board Certified and Texas licensed athletic trainer.

Gorme earned a Master of Athletic Training degree from the University of Mobile in 2024. His master's program provided unique opportunities, including assisting at the 2023 Reese's (currently known as Panini's) Senior Bowl and the 2023 Alabama-Mississippi High School All-Star Game. Gorme received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a concentration in health and fitness from the University of South Alabama in 2021. During his time at USA, he gained practical experience as a student intern with the football athletic training staff.

Outside of athletics, Paolo enjoys watching movies and TV shows, Formula 1, Los Angeles Dodgers baseball, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. He is excited to be a part of the Miner community and supporting UTEP student athletes.
