Wyatt Young enters his second season as a graduate assistant with the UTEP Men’s Basketball Program for the 2026-27 campaign.
Young joined UTEP after a year at Stephen F. Austin University, where he served as a graduate assistant under Head Coach Kyle Keller. Prior to SFA, Young spent a season coaching with the International Sports Academy, a prep school in Sandusky, Ohio.
Young first worked with Coach Steve Green at South Plains College, under whom he served as a student assistant for two seasons. During his time at SPC, Young was part of two NJCAA Tournament teams, including a 2020-21 squad that finished 22-9 and earned an at-large bid. The program went on to win the WJCAC championship and advance to the NJCAA Elite Eight in 2021-22 after opening the season with a 17-0 record.
Following his time at South Plains College, Young spent two seasons at Texas Tech. In his first season with the Red Raiders, Texas Tech posted a 27-10 record and went a perfect 18-0 at home. The Red Raiders advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament after ranking first nationally in defensive efficiency.
Young earned an Associate of Science degree from South Plains College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management from Texas Tech University. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Leadership Studies at UTEP.
A native of Bertram, Texas, Young is a graduate of Burnet High School.
