UCF answered back in the top of the second to tie 1-1 then took the lead in the next frame after a single into the right-center gap brought a run home.

Bennett connected in the bottom of the third for an infield single just left of first base. She advanced to second on a single by Carrera. Townsend walked to load the bases. Two strikeouts later, Holland sailed the ball straight up the middle, sending Bennett and Carrera home for the 3-2 UTEP lead.
