EL PASO, Texas - The UTEP softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader, 3-0 and 2-0, to Memphis on Saturday. The Miners fall to 18-10 and 3-2 in Conference USA action.
Camilla Carrera went 2-for-5 (.400) at the plate, both doubles.
Stacie Townsend (16-6) and Kelly Curran (1-1) were the losing pitchers, combining for five earned runs on the day.
The Miners were held scoreless in both games, and connected for seven hits, but left 12 runners stranded, including eight in scoring position.
Memphis scored two runs in the second off a single down the left field line, plating two runners and drove in the final run of the game off an RBI-double in the fifth.
The Tigers picked up one run in the first and one in the fifth for the 2-0 nightcap final.
The series concludes in a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m. MDT. UTEP returns home to face New Mexico State in a single game on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
