2014 Season Stats 
TULSA, Okla. - The UTEP softball team lost a pair of games to No. 18 Tulsa, falling 6-0 in game one and 6-0 in game two on Saturday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
The Miners fall to 12-23, 4-7 in Conference USA, while the first-place Golden Hurricane improve to 31-3, 8-0 in conference.
Game one
Aimee Creger continued her dominance over UTEP, tying a career high with 17 strikeouts and allowing one hit during a complete game effort.
The Golden Hurricane scored six runs on four hits in the first inning for the early momentum. Jodi Edmiston singled Shelby Blanton over home plate; Catherine Horner hit a two-run single and Haley Henshaw drove in the final run on a single to left field.
Pitcher Danielle Pearson was called for a few controversial illegal pitches during the first inning that scored two runs. Though Pearson got caught in a jam, she pitched the remainder of the game (six innings, three hits and no earned runs) and tallied the Miners' only hit.
Game two
With the game tied 0-0 in the fourth inning, a fielding miscue by the Miners kept the inning alive. With two outs, the Golden Hurricane took advantage when Julie Kernen plated Erica Sampson for the game's first run.
The Miners threatened with runners at first and second base in the fifth inning. Alanna Leasau opened the top half of with a double to right center, Tulsa managed to get two out before Tahla Wade was walked, but UTEP couldn't capitalize on the opportunity.
Tulsa scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning, which was highlighted by a Jodi Edmiston grand slam that put UTEP away.
Erika Arcuri went 2-for-3, a single in the first and third innings, while Ashley Eldridge and Kawehiokalani Netane recorded a single each.
UTEP and Tulsa will finish the series on Sunday at 11 a.m. MT.
