HONOLULU, Hawaii - The UTEP softball team was edged by no. 19 UCF, 3-0, and beaten up by no. 17 Washington, 9-0 (six innings), during day two of the Bank of Hawaii Invitational at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Miners drop to 2-11 on the season.

Danielle Pearson (1-3) pitched six solid innings, walking none, but UCF ace Mackenzie Audas (4-0) tallied 14 strikeouts and only allowed one hit to defeat the Miners.
It was the second time the two pitchers faced each other, as the pair squared off back on April 7, 2013 in Orlando. Pearson, a native of Orlando, pitched 10.2 innings, only walking one, while Audas recorded 17 Ks in 11 innings.
Back to Saturday's contest, the Golden Knights scored all three runs during the bottom of the sixth inning. UCF loaded the bases as Linnea Goodman scored on a fielder's choice, followed by a pinch-hit two-run triple down the right field line by Courtney Rotton.
Kiki Pepi had UTEP's lone hit, a double to deep left field with Ashley Eldridge on, who reached on a fielding error. But Eldridge was thrown out at third base, as the Miners couldn't any other offense sustained.

Souza doubled to deep left center, scoring two Huskies, and Gano smacked a three-run home run to right center during a five-run third inning. Washington never looked back as it scored two runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth to doom UTEP.
Tahla Wade, Pepi and Eldridge each tallied a hit for the Miners. Washington's Casey Stangel (3-0) pitched 5.1 innings, striking out one and walking three to earn the win.
The Miners will conclude the invitational on Sunday. Their opponents will be determined after the UCF/Hawaii and Washington/Hawaii contests finish later this evening. UTEP will be the no. 4 seed and will take on the no. 1 seed at 11 a.m. Hawaii Time (2 p.m. MT).
