TEMPE, Ariz. - The UTEP softball team closed out its weekend with an 11-0 loss in five innings to Stanford on the final day of the Kajikawa Classic hosted Arizona State.

The Miners (0-5) hung around through the first four innings. Stanford scored three in the first and one during the second inning. The Orange and Blue, down 4-0, threatened during the bottom fourth. Ashley Eldridge reached on an error by the shortstop and Courtney Clayton hit a liner through the left side to start the inning. Linda Garcia's sac-bunt advanced the two base runners, but a double play ended the frame.

The Cardinal (4-2) scored seven runs in the top of the fifth inning, claiming victory.

UTEP returns to action at the Wilson/DeMarini Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. hosted by UNLV. The Miners will face Portland State and Indiana on Feb. 13, Nevada and BYU on Valentine's Day and UNLV on Feb. 15.
