2014-15 UTEP Tennis Stats 
EL PASO, Texas - Davina Meza, Jeannez Daniel and Duda Santos each improved to 10-2 in dual match singles competition as UTEP took down Texas-Pan American, 5-2, on Sunday at the El Paso Tennis & Swim Club.
The Miners improved to 9-3, making it the best 12-match start since opening the 2009 campaign with the same record.
UTEP gained the early advantage by clinching the doubles point. Court No. 3 won the first doubles match, as Daphne Visscher and Lois Wagenvoort cruised past Christel Amasallem and Dominique Esparza, 8-2. At the No. 1 position, Meza and Daniel fell to Katia Stavroulaki and Reegan Greenwood, 8-6, in a hard-fought match. Meza and Daniel were down 4-1 at one point, but rallied to tie the match 6-6.
The doubles point was won on the No. 2 court, as Santos and Matilda Tench won 8-5. Santos clinched match and point with an ace that raced past Mariana Ranzahuer and Lison Le Biavant. Tench and Santos are 3-0 since being teamed up on March 12 at UC Riverside.
Meza clinched the overall team win with a 6-4, 7-6 (3) triumph over Stavroulaki at the No. 1 position. Meza was in position to win the match during the second set up 6-5, but Stavroulaki rallied to tie, forcing the tiebreaker.
Santos won the Miners' first singles match, defeating Greenwood, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 3, while Wagenvoort outmatched Amasallem, 6-4, 6-0, at court No. 4. Wagenvoort improved to 5-5 in the spring.
Daniel fell to Esparza, 6-3, in the first set on court No. 2, but the freshman rallied to win the match, 7-5 in the second set and 6-3 in the third. Daniel won her 20th overall singles match this season.

UTEP will wrap up its home portion of the 2015 schedule on March 23 when it hosts Seattle U. at 10 a.m. After Sunday, the Miners' next three matches will be played in Hattiesburg, Miss., which includes Louisiana-Monroe (March 27), William Carey (March 28), and Conference USA foe Southern Miss (March 29). UTEP's final match of the regular season will be played at rival NM State on April 11 at 2 p.m.
