UTEP 3, UTSA 7
UTEP took a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning, but UTSA answered with a five-run home half for the 7-3 win. The Roadrunners dominated the first four innings, as Kacy Freeze, who started in the circle, retired the first 13 UTEP hitters.
UTSA scored the first two runs with two outs during the third. Courtney Buchman hit her 10th home run, a solo shot over left center, and Megan Low scored on a hard infield single to the pitcher by Randee Crawford.
The Miners got within a run in fifth. Linda Garcia singled in Kaitlin Ryder, who walked to lead off the inning. It was Garcia's seventh RBI this season and fifth in her last three games.
UTEP took the lead in the sixth inning. Courtney Clayton led off with a single up the middle, followed by an Ashley Eldridge double to deep center. Clayton tied the game on a wild pitch by relief pitcher Nicole Merrill. Kiki Pepi then singled through the left side, plating Eldridge to take the 3-2 advantage.
UTSA answered in the home half, as Madison Kinley connected on a solo home run over right to tie the game. The go-ahead run came from Kendall Burton, a triple that went down the right line, scoring Jade Smith. Low put the game away with her 14th long ball of the season, a three-run shot over center.
Pepi tallied her 21st RBI this season on a 1-for-3 performance. Tahla Wade, Clayton, Eldridge, Hope Moreno, Garcia and Taylor Sargent added a knock apiece.
UTEP 4, UTSA 5
Erika Harrawood established a career in innings pitched (6.1) and strikeouts (six), while Clayton tallied a career-high four RBI. But it wasn't enough, as Crawford connected on a walk off single to deep center, plating Burton who crossed the dish to clinch a 5-4 UTSA comeback game two victory.
Clayton put the Miners on the board early with her fifth long ball of the season - a two-run shot with Wade on during the first frame.
UTSA tied the game in the home half, as Vivian Tijerina singled in Burton, who doubled to lead off the inning. Then with bases loaded, Crawford walked, plating Low, who reached on an error. The contest was then delayed due to lighting in the area. After the 30 minute delay, Low hit a high towering shot to right. The ball left the park, as the Roadrunner faithful praised her 15th long ball. But Eldridge made a great snag, as she put her arm over the fence to steal the home run. She showed the ball to the umpires, stunning the home crowd.
The excitement kept going, as Clayton continued her career day during the fourth. The freshman recorded a two-run single to center, plating Rodriguez and Wade with two outs.
In the fifth, Crawford tied the game with bases loaded, as she hit a blooper to right center that scored Low and Buchman.
Clayton went 3-for-4 with a run scored and her aforementioned RBI total. Rodriguez finished 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Wade was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs. Sargent and Kawehiokalani Netane each added a knock.
